Auburn is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Auburn is a rural community and is conveniently located just twelve miles from Manchester, New Hampshire. It is home to the largest part of Lake Massabesic. The town of Auburn has had several names; Chester Woods, Chester West Parish, and Long Meadow. It was incorporated in 1845. Auburn is comprised of 25.5 square miles of land and 3.3 square miles of inland water. The town offers many recreational opportunities including ice skating, camping, fishing, boating, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Auburns population at the time was 4,682 people. This included 1,580 households and 1,322 families.
