South Hampton is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire.  It is home to Heron Pond Farm, Jewell Towne Vineyards, Cowden State Forest and Powwow River State Forest.  Outdoor recreational opportunities include camping, fishing and cross-country skiing.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, South Hampton’s population at the time was 884 people.  This included 301 households and 244 families.  The average family size was 3.07 and the average household size was 2.80.  South Hampton is comprised of 7.9 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water.
